Development of an onboard
maritime digital scale

The weight of fishery products is an important indicator that determines the sales value. Therefore, it needs to be highly accurate. Normally, the weight is measured at the port, after the ship as returned. Up until now, it has been common sense to use mechanical scales when out on the ocean and the ship is swaying, since digital scales could not perform accurately on the sea. However, there was definitely a need for a reliable digital scale for such conditions. That is when Tanaka Scale Works embarked on a new challenge, to develop a digital scale that would work even when ocean billows roll.

vehicles in Viet Nam

Rapid development in Viet Nam is driving increases in the flow of goods. Accompanying this trend, however, is a problem with overloading of large trucks, often to several times the maximum load. This is creating social problems such as serious accidents and road damage. Tanaka Scale Works, in cooperation with the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), undertook a project to help eliminate overloading, ensure safety, and protect the lives of the people of Viet Nam.
